Aim of the seminar is to discuss and to formulate ideas in the ‘Campus Accessibility’ topic basing them on the Koç University’s Campus which will stand as an example in the seminar. Seminar will try to examine and vary questions such as “What does access mean?, what does being accessible mean?, What to and how to access?, How a campus can be an accessible social space?“ with the outputs of the ‘Autism Friendly Campus’ workshop that will be held in November 9th. Map of Campus Accessibility will be drawn through the seminar with the common effort of people with different vulnerabilities and characteristics based on the campus’ map while determining “accessibilities” and “accessibilities”.

Asım Evren Yantaç

Finishing his PhD in Interaction Design, he studied his Post Doc studies in Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, on the topic of employing mixed reality technologies for sensory normalization of individuals with autism. He works as a research faculty at Media and Visual Arts Department and Research Center for Creative Industries at Koç University, since 2013, where he runs the Happern Research Group, that focuses on exploratory research studies on user experience design, interaction and information design and mediated reality technologies.

Pınar Akoğul

Completed her Bachelor’s Degree in Istanbul University departments of Mathematics and Physics. She worked as a strategic planner in Medina Turgul Advertising Agency while she continued her M.Sc. in ITU in department of Physics. She got interested in accessibility while she was working at communication office of Koç University and she works as Coordinator of Accessible Office in Koç University since 2014. She conducts different works with disabled students in Koç University. Along with all she continues her M.Sc. in Istanbul University Department of Sociology. She focuses on topics such as disable studies, body sociology and psychoanalysis.

Zeynep Yıldız

After graduating Psychology and Media & Visual Arts majors from Koç University, Yıldız started her postgraduate studies in Research Center for Creative Industries at Koç University. Her research interests are accessibility, universal design and she continues her studies about those topics.

Doğa Çorlu

Doğa Çorlu is a PhD candidate in interaction design in Design, Technology and Society at Koç University and works as a research and teaching assistant in Happern Research Group. Her research focuses on mediating neurodiverse groups’ experiences in disabling situations. She volunteers for designing services for autistic individuals across digital and public platforms in collaboration with several autism foundations. She holds a BA in Interaction Design from YTU, Türkiye.

ENGIN-YILMAZ-sb

Engin Yılmaz

Engin Yılmaz was born in 1979. After he graduated from Boğaziçi University with two Bachelor of Arts degrees in Psychology and Guidance and Psychological Counseling in 2002, he earned a Master’s degree in Cognitive Psychology, and completed his PhD in Adult Education at Boğaziçi University 2015. Currently he serves as director of the GETAM, Technology and Education Laboratory for Individuals with Visual Disabilities, while he gives lectures about disabilities in different universities. He is the head Association of Barrier Free Access while he continues his active works in the Audio Description Association. He is also one of the writers of the magazine Equal, Accessible, Barrier Free Life (EEEH) which is contained within Association of Barrier Free Access.

Göksenin İnalhan

Assoc. Prof. Göksenin İnalhan was born in 1974 in Eskisehir. She is graduated from Architecture Department in Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Architecture. She has a doctorate in Urban Studies, Construction Management from Reading University, UK. During her doctorate study, she also worked as an assistant for Reading University “Inclusive Environment” Master Program. She is an instructor at Istanbul Technical University Architecture Department since 1998. She is conducting research and producing articles in the fields of environmental psychology in architectural design, accessibility, design for everyone, post-usage evaluation of work-place.
